Decisions are like dominos standing in a line, each one toppling on the next and some having irreversible consequences. The choices you make in your day-to-day life are powerful and you can never underestimate the long and short-term impact. Careers have take off, relationships have fallen apart, and children’s lives ruined, all because of a person or individuals decisions.
Getting down the isle is much easier then most imagine; the real work happens after vows are exchanged and your gifts are opened. Most people believe the most costly mistakes can be made when selecting a wedding venue, vendors, and linen. However, couples make the most costly mistakes after the wedding. This is when reality sets in and they being to realize every decision made impact both partners. Most important, every decision impacts the quality and overall satisfaction of the marriage.
Most of us have learned, some of us the hard way, that our future depends on our ability to make informed decisions – it cost to make uninformed or under-informed decisions.
Last week I met with a young woman that recently broke up with her fiancé, because they were unable sort out the details for their wedding ceremony, due to differing religious beliefs. Although her fiancé was a good guy, they were not a good fit because their morals, values, and religion belief became a roadblock.
You cannot make great decision if you do not consider the consequences and take them serious.
You must also commit to sticking with you decision. One of the pitfalls of decision-making is having a desire change your mind once a decision is make. If you find that you are or have frequently changed your mind or been unsettled after making a decision – this is a clear indicator that you are not giving enough time to work through the decision making process to consider options or the ramifications before making a decision.
Before making a decision spend a few days thinking to weigh all of your options, before proceeding ahead.
